In order to raise money for SpecialEffect and The Twin Town Challenge we hosted an informal evening of food, drink and entertainment in January. Alongside FOCUS LLP Oxford, we decided to invite all of our clients to Start Your Engines.
With talks from both Twin Town Challenge organiser Brendon Cross and Founder of SpecialEffect, Dr Mick Donegan, we were able to elevate the charity’s profile and raise more funds. Dr Mick gave an incredible speech on their inspirational work; describing a few stand out cases where SpecialEffect made a huge impact on the lives of less-abled children and their families. Brendon then took to the stage to discuss the Challenge and how money raised can go lengths in supporting SpecialEffect.
Jon closed the talks with a quick live auction for a Chauffeur driven Jaguar XLJ provided by Purely Platinum Cars which was won by Steve from JamesCowper Kreston.
In light of #TTC16 and the 430-mile round trip to Le Touquet in France, we decide on a European themed canapé selection. With the best of British and French cuisine, guests got a range of delicacies and lots of fizz! As well as some great speeches and lots to drink, we had Ear Candy entertain the crowd of around 80.
We would like to thank everyone who made it to the event. We’re pleased to say that we were able to raise £350 in cash donations. Additionally, a further 3 new teams have entered to take part in The Twin Town Challenge.
Another huge thank you goes to Roger Smart from Smart Multi Services. Roger not only helped source, service and wrap Uber Element’s Fairway, but he answered an emergency call two hours before the event. Having a flat battery not only meant Jon couldn’t get the taxi running, but he couldn’t even open the doors! Roger drove over to our office last minute and helped give it a jump start.
Unfortunately, due to the facilities at the venue, Matt 'Hambo' Hampson was unable to attend like planned. He was sorely missed but he has asked us to pass this video onto everyone.
