WARNING: Network Solutions Phishing Scam!

Network Solutions become the lastest target of domain name phishing attacks as millions of phishing emails decend into the inbox's of unsuspecting domain owners.

This week has seen yet another flurry of concerned email and phone calls from customers who mistakenly believe of their domain is unexpectedly due for renewal.

The email claims to be from the reputable domain registrar 'Network Solutions' (www.networksolutions.com), on the face of it the email appears convincing enough, no glaring spelling errors which are often the give-away in these types scam. However alarm bells should start ringing at the point where they suggest they will share the renewal revenue the with you - this is certainly too good to be true!

On closer inspection the flaws become more obvious; the hyper link you are ask to follow is disguised as a genuine link back to Network Solutions but no, and this is the important bit, the link actually takes you to http://www.networksolutions.com.sys56.biz - not part of Network Solutions website but the scammers! Once on their site it all looks quite familiar and they ask for your username and password, at which point for the unsuspecting it's GAME OVER!

Our advice is simple:

  • Never follow links in unsolicited email - always type the url directly into the browser
  • If you are at all concerned about the expiry of your domain contact your hosting company directly
  • If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is - there is no such thing as a free lunch!

We encourage any of our customers who have received this email, or something similar, to please get in contact with us and we will put your mind at rest.
