The brief

ADP approached Urban Element to produce a large Content Managed website to house and display its large portfolio of prestigious projects. ADP also wanted to combine the more traditional portfolio approach with bringing their people into central focus. For this reason the website fluidly allows for cross linking of People, Projects, Services, News, Videos, and Brochures. ADP recognised that an increasing segment of its customer base were mobile enabled and required a dedicated mobile site to run in parallel to a mobile friendly solution.

The solution

Working in conjunction with Minuco who provided the visual design, we developed a comprehensive desktop and mobile solution within the Adobe Business Catalyst Content Management System.

A fun and social element is brought into the website so visitors can get to know key ADP staff. Users can hover their mouse over a profile and see a picture that best represents their personality (e.g. a VW camper van, a vintage bike and some muddy welly boots).

A dedicated and fast loading mobile website allows for streamlined browsing of key projects and contacts, very handy for potential clients or architects to view whilst on the move.

A key part of the brief for the project was to allow customers and internal ADP staff to be able to bring together any combination of Projects and People into a personalised favourites list (called My Pages on the website). This functionality instantly turns this list into a fully designed PDF that can be downloaded, printed or emailed as a personalised brochure. The UE design and development teams worked together using JQuery and .Net to produce a seamless experience and ADP were thrilled with the end result.

The results

The ADP site launched successfully for both mobile and desktop. Our go live procedures ensured the site was fully indexed for targeted researched keyword terms for which the site continues to rank highly for.  In the first 12 month the site was already benefiting from;

  • 25% more keyword targeted visits = increase in relevant visitors
  • 24% increase in average visit session = more engagement on site
  • A 140% increase in mobile visitors
  • 61% longer visit sessions on mobile devices

By developing more interaction on site, and adding a human element, the new site has succeeded in creating more engagement through longer and increased sessions. The mobile development led to a significant increase in mobile device visits that also engaged to a far greater degree with longer average visit sessions.
